About Mary Nations

I am an organization development consultant and coach. What I love most about this work is establishing and enhancing effective connections. I work with individuals and groups to develop understanding, to explore possibilities, and to consider deliberate choices. My stance is as a learning partner. I see and share connections and patterns that others may not notice, while staying curious and open-minded.

Background: I began my career as a statistician, and have gradually developed a range of skills including change management, project management, process improvement, and leading and facilitating project teams both locally and internationally. I was part of a company that went through two major mergers, during which I discovered that I was more tolerant of this sort of upheaval than most - I saw big change as an opportunity to learn and develop. I sought out roles where I could work with teams to adapt and stay productive in the changing environment. Since then, I have earned a graduate degree in organization development to continue my exploration of the human dynamics involved in change. I’ve also pursued intensive training in coaching and diversity work.

Interests: I am curious about everything. I like exploration and discovery. I like looking at things from all sides and find connectivity everywhere. This blog begins my visible exploration of how online tools can be used in developing connections and community. Kerry and I have been learning together as co-inquirers, and we want to share what we know and learn from others. How can we use online tools to augment the way we learn and interact, while still maintaining meaningful connections? There are folks already researching these questions – now we join in – connecting inquiry and participation.
